AAA Approved Auto Repair Facility NAPA

4X4 SERVICES

The technicians at Dun Rite Automotive have years of experience working on standard 4-wheel drive (4x4) vehicles as well as all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles. AWD is a full-time 4-wheel-drive system (all four wheels receive torque from the engine simultaneously) that employs a center differential that allows each tire to rotate at different speeds.

We understand the special needs of these vehicles. These are some of the services we offer.

Transmissions
Transmission repair is not something to take lightly. The transmission is connected to key parts of your vehicle and needs to be working properly for your safety. Transmission services include replacing filters and draining fluids to prevent transmission damage. Typical transmission issues that may lead to repair may include shifting issues, slipping, stalling, fluid leaking, and the service light turning on. If you are concerned that you may need transmission repair, don't hesitate to schedule an appointment at Dun Rite Automotive today.

Transfer Cases
A transfer case is a part of a four wheel drive system found in four wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles. The transfer case receives power from the transmission and sends it to both the front and rear axles. This can be done with a set of gears, but the majority of transfer cases manufactured today are chain driven. The transfer case is connected to the transmission and also to the front and rear axles by means of drive shafts. Trust the automotive experts at Dun Rite Automotive for all your transmission repairs.

Differentials
The differential transfers the engine power to the wheels. One important function of the differential is to pass on power to the wheels while allowing them to rotate at different speeds - thus the name differential. When turning, the outer wheels travel a larger distance than the inner wheels do (also the front wheels travel a longer distance than the rear wheels). This means that all four wheels travel at different speeds during a turn and this is where the differential comes in to help. To make sure your vehicle's differentials are working properly, have them checked regularly. Contact Dun Rite Automotive today for differentials examination and servicing.

Driveline
A driveline is a part of your motor vehicle that connects the engine and the transmission to the wheel axles. The driveline consists of the parts of the powertrain less the engine and transmission. Failure of the driveline means that the car would not move since energy cannot be transmitted from the engine to the wheel axles. Therefore, make sure that your car's driveline is regularly inspected and serviced. And, at Dun Rite Automotive, you can have the driveline serviced by experts.

Wheel Bearings
Wheel bearings are found inside of wheels, allowing the wheels to spin freely, and are connected to the brake system. They can become worn over time, causing a vibrating suspension and noisy rubbing as the car is driven. If they break completely, the vehicle will become very difficult to control and unsafe to drive. Replacement interval for wheel bearings varies greatly, but they should be checked for leaks and wear periodically. Dun Rite Automotive can make sure that your bearings are in good shape and let you know if they need replacement.

Hubs, Seals, Studs, & Nuts
A wheel hub motor, also referred to as a wheel motor, is an electric motor incorporated into the wheel hub and drives it directly. You can have a safer and smoother ride today by replacing your warped and worn out wheel hubs. Let Dun Rite Automotive replace your worn out hubs today.

Properly working seals provide oil and grease sealing - offering enhanced performance in a wide range of temperatures and environments. Worn out or warped seals allow external contaminants to enter the bearing unit or let lubricant escape from the unit. This ultimately leads to premature failure of the bearing unit. To keep out contamination and retain lubricant in the bearings, have the seals replaced with new ones. To have the seals replaced by experts, contact or visit Dun Rite Automotive today.

Studs are the threaded fasteners that hold on the wheels of your truck. The wheel studs are permanently mounted on the wheel hub through the brake disk or brake drum. To secure the wheel, nuts (lug nuts) are fastened over the stud. Stripped wheel studs can be quite dangerous. Damaged wheel studs should be replaced with new ones immediately. To have your truck's wheel studs replaced with high quality ones, call 843-667-6679 or visit Dun Rite Automotive today.

A wheel nut or lug nut is a fastener for securing a wheel on the hub. A set of lug nuts are used to secure a wheel to the threaded wheel studs (which are fixed to a wheel hub). Worn out nuts means one thing - the wheel is not fixed securely on the vehicle which puts the vehicle at the risk of rolling over. To have your truck's wheels securely fastened to the hub, contact or visit Dun Rite Automotive in Florence, SC 29501 today.

Testimonials

  • ust spoke with my mom who was driving from Maryland to SC when her alternator went out 100 miles from her home. She called AAA and was offered the option of being towed to Dun Rite Automotive or she could be towed all the way to her home if she preferred. She chose Dun Rite and I can say from talking to her she was THRILLED that she chose Dun Rite. The young lady at the desk was incredibly friendly and immediately made her and her new pup feel right at home, offering a fresh bowl of water for the pup. The general manager immediately diagnosed the alternator issue and ordered a NAPA warranted replacement part. He assigned 2 mechanics to the job to ensure it was completed quickly and got her back on the road before their closing time which was 45 minutes away. The new alternator was not a "rebuilt" but new and was priced at a very fair NAPA price with a very inexpensive $99 install price (plus the 20% AAA discount added in as well). As someone who has traveled the I-95 corridor and had poor experiences with breakdowns and the predatory repair service stations before, I was incredibly happy with the experience my mom described to me when working with Dun Rite Automotive. They are the real deal and I can assure you that my immediate family have been told of the experience and advised that if ever we experience any automotive problems within the Florence area, this is the shop we are going to! I felt it important to write this review to express my sincere gratitude to the people at Dun Rite Auto for the incredible professionalism and courtesy they demonstrated to my mom. You could not have made her feel more safe and secure and for that I am very grateful. As a son, there is nothing more comforting and satisfying than knowing that there are still businesses out there that believe that great customer service at a fair price is still a priority. Thanks again for your incredible standard of service!

  • While enroute to Florida from PA I ran over an animal on I95, which smashed the bottom of the radiator in my Honda Accord. I contacted AAA for a tow and they gave me 2 options, and thankfully I chose Dun-Rite (Ross at the Petro also recommended Dun-Rite). Excellent service from the time my car was towed, dealing with the insurance company, car repairs, rental car and then picking up my car on the way back from Florida. Thank You so much Brenda and team for making a very frustrating and upsetting experience not so bad after all. I got to meet all of you at least!!! Again THANK YOU!!!!
    -Dawn S.

  • My sons were traveling south on 95 when his engine stop running he pulled over to the side of 95. The jeep would not start they were stranded hauling a trailer and a dog. Not knowing the area didn't know who to call or who would be honest and reliable. They called several companies and they could not guarantee they would look at his jeep on that day. It was a Friday and he didn't want to be stuck for the weekend he was starting a new job on Monday in Florida. I found Dun-Rite Automotive on the internet called and spoke with Lucas explained the situation to him. He then called my sons and towed his jeep, trailer along with the dog back to his business. The guys had been traveling all night so when they got there they were exhausted, everyone made them comfortable even the dog was welcomed. While Lucas' team worked on the jeep the guys caught a nap. It took some time to figure out the problem being "electrical" anyway the boys were back on the road before dark. As a mother I want say "Thank you for taking such good care of my sons and grand dog"

  • Thank You Rodney, Brenda, and all the fine folks at Dun Rite Auto. I have had to carry 4 or 5 different vehicles with 4 or 5 different problems to Dun Rite. They have always been able to find the problem and fix them in a very professional manor. I also like the fact that my car is not covered in grease when I get it back (hood, fenders, floor mats, and steering wheel)are always grease free when I pick up my cars. Trustworthy place to do business. I hope I don't have anymore car troubles, but if I do I will be visiting Dun Rite!!!!
